2004 Veterans 13th Freestyle Wrestling World Championships were held in Hradec Kralove in the Czech Republic on September 10-12, 2004. Their website is: www.czech-wrestling.cz

At the Veteran Freestyle Wrestling World Championships, held in Hradec Kralove in the Czech Republic, the US Team won 6 Gold and 5 Bronze, finishing second behind Russia in overall team points. The US won more Gold than any other country.

Veteran World Champion Gordon Connell Places 3rd in USOC Athlete of the Month for September

Just received this from USAW, Congrats Gordon:

“Veterans World champion Connell places third in USOC Athlete of the Month for September. For the first time ever, a U.S. wrestler in the Veterans division placed in the voting for the U.S. Olympic Committee’s Athlete of the Month Award. Gordon Connell (Chattanooga, Tenn.), who claimed a gold medal at the 2004 Veterans Freestyle World Championships, placed in a tie for third in the voting for USOC Male Athlete of the Month for September 2004. 

Connell won a gold medal in Division E at 76 kg/167.5 lbs at the 2004 Veterans World Freestyle Wrestling Championships in the Czech Republic, Sept. 10-12. Division E is for athletes 56 years and older. He wrestled in a competitive weight class and won a number of challenging bouts. “

USAW Selects Veteran Gold Medalist Gordon Connell Wrestler of the Week

Gordon Connell, 56 year-old, won a gold medal in Div. E at 76 kg/167.5 lbs. at the 2004 Veterans World Freestyle Wrestling Championships in Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic.  USAW has selected him as the Wrestler of the Week. Congrats Gordon.
